Job Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION
The primary function of the Heavy Duty Mechanic is to perform all necessary assembly routines before and after equipment parts have been painted or completed and perform typical machine shop operations testing and inspections according to defined specifications. The primary machines worked on will be Cone and Jaw Crushers, Vibratory screens and conveyors along with other similar equipment in the aggregate handling industry
 
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Assembly is completed according to planned schedule and assembly specifications
  • Repairs and equipment builds meet all defined quality standards for assembly
  • Completed machine functions and testing done properly
  • Work area is clean and orderly
  • Safe operation of all equipment and tasks
  • Act as mentor to an apprentice if and when appointed
 PRIMARY TASKS
  • Read and interpret blueprint detail drawings and dimension styles
  • Use shop paperwork to complete machine assembly and log time to work
  • Install purchase parts and sub-assemblies prior to and after the painting process
  • Install Drive Pulleys, Bearings, Copper Bushings, Gears etc.
  • Update engineering paperwork to reflect any changes if needed
  • Perform inspection of machine products (including documentation of results)
  • Operate equipment safely – Ironworker, small Band Saw, Drill Presses, Drills, cutting torch, and other equipment, as required
  • Follow safe operating and lifting procedures for overhead cranes
  • Operate forklift according to safe operating procedures, including acquisition and maintenance of training certificate
  • Test-run completed equipment prior to shipment
  • May be required to travel from time to time to customer sites to assist with machine repairs
  OTHER TASKS
  • Keep floor and work area clean and free of steel and tools, sweeping when necessary
  • Special projects as assigned
 QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience
  • Hold a valid Canadian Journeyman ticket
  • Have a valid driver’s license with no restrictions
  • Experience with Cone Crushers or Jaw Crushers
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, CAD and 3D inventor would be a benefit
  • Good experience with Hydraulic systems would be a benefit
  • Able to work in a team environment
  • Attention to detail
